Project Reflections

These neighborhood theme projects were interesting. I enjoyed going into Harbor East, taking photos and interviewing people. For this project, we were required to write our own articles utilizing our own artistry and images. For my project one, I introduced my neighborhood and explained it’s relevancy. I wanted to let people know that Harbor East is a different kind of neighborhood because it’s in the center of  a thriving community. The community members live in high rise condos versus side-by-side homes.  Two strengths for this project are my idea concept and my typography within the design. Two weakness are my actual design and writing. Three actions that I will take to enhance my strengths are to improve my writing/editing, brainstorm design ideas before actual designing and taking better photos. To enhance my weaknesses, I’d plan better and take more time in the idea development stages.

Project two was a bit more intense. Two of my strengths were my interview writing and my photos. My two weaknesses were trying to stay with one idea and my actual design layout. I ended up redoing my entire project. If I want enhance my strengths and weaknesses, I’d probably keep the same concept but go with a different angle.

Project three was very difficult for me. I spent a lot of time working on it but realized that I didn’t follow the directions from the beginning. I ended up redoing the entire project. My actions for the strengths and weaknesses would be to READ the directions, ask questions and again spend a good amount of time developing ideas and concepts.

  1. I think you do a really great job of using diagonals on your design and shifting angles of content to make it more interesting. I agree that getting a good concept from the brainstorm phase saves soooo much time later. It’s so hard to part with an idea that isn’t working after you’ve invested time in it.

  2. I agree with Liz, I don’t think we realize how hard it is to part with something we have been working on! I know I’m always convinced to make it work… but TJ gave great advice in finishing out, before moving on to something else for the same project. I think your area of choice, Harbor East, is great. I wouldn’t have known anything about it if it weren’t for you!
